"I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW THE RAIN IS GONE...or, its gonna be a bright, bright sunshiny day "

I don't know how it is where you are, but we've just endured a "dark, dark, grey rainy day" here in Scotland. But never fear , because we have a fantastic radio service here (BBC Radio Scotand) and one of my favourite shows is called "Get it on", hosted by Bryan Burnett, and aired every weekday from 6-7 pm.

The program nominates a "theme' each day and listeners are encouraged-it doesn't take much, as its a very interactive and fun program and everyone wants to have his/her say- to contact the show with suggestions for songs to play based on the days theme . It is very entertaining, stimulating and always great fun trying to think of your own suggestion for the playlist, as you enjoy all the wonderful songs that emerge from the pot. Anyway, todays theme was "The Weather" and all songs related to, or somehow mentioning, the weather. Needless to say there were loads of great suggestions, many about "RAIN" !!! , but my own personal favourite would have to be this great Jimmy Cliff song. Its officially called "I can see clearly now", but is more easily remembered as "the bright, bright , sunshiny day" song. I love this song, it is impossible to listen to it and not feel uplifted, the melody and lyrics both working to raise the spirits. It is particularly special to me as it really reflects how I'm feeling  right now. There is another version by Johnny Nash which is also lovely, and equally enjoyable. This great song is also a fabulous tune to get one out of bed in the morning !

If you don't know this song have a listen, and see what you think- I defy anyone to listen and not want to get up and dance,  to sing along or at least crack a smile. And of course if you know the song, you'll love hearing it again, and again....

I'd love to hear your response to this, or your own favourite "always makes me smile" song,so let me know what you think. A

Welcome to my world, won't you come on in.....?

So, welcome. This is my first blog post so I should tell you a little about me, and my plans for this blog.
I am a designer, creator, crafter , maker... all of these have been ongoing pursuits throughout my life, even when I've been working full-time at totally unconnected and uncreative jobs, I have always been 'making'. I have also always been on the move, mainly for work and personal reasons, but over the years I have moved and travelled a lot, and this has really influenced my work and creativity. I have decided to combine my two main passions of creating and travel in this blog which will reflect my travels and the inspirations behind my work. I am also very interested in healthy living, good food and nutrition, simple living which includes gardening, growing fruit ,vegetables, flowers and herbs, recycling, reclamation , upcycling and decorating.
I love music and its therapeutic and regenerative powers, art , painting , photography, architecture, design, colour, pattern, nature, and healthy living. I hope to be able to include a selection of all of these interests in an informative, stimulating and interesting way that will capture your imagination and add a little sunshine to your day.
Thanks for visiting, and do call back again,
Anna
Thanks to Jim Reeves for this great song, and hope it brings back happy memories to those who know it, and interest and enjoyment to those hearing it for the first time.
